I’ve been enjoying reading Kenneth Wolf’s new translation of the corpus of Eulogius (d. 859), the notorious leader of the Córdorban Martyrs, beheaded for blasphemy under the Umayyads of Spain. Full of fiery polemic, he often notes Muslim beliefs. Commenting on the Virgin Mary ... 
and Muslim beliefs about her, he suddenly becomes apoplectic, writing, "I should leave unmentioned that sacrilege, that monstrous outrage ... that [Muhammad] dares to say abt the most blessed Virigin...
For he claimed ... that her virginity would be violated by him in the age to come!" (Memoriale sanctorum, I.7). It's an odd claim -- that Muhammad claimed that he would deflower the Virgin Mary. Certainly it's not in the Qur'an, so it must be baseless, right?
Surprisingly, Eulogius didn't make this up (at least not entirely). There does exist a ḥadīth in which Muḥammad declares, “God wedded me in Paradise to Mary daughter of ʿImrān (=the Virgin Mary), Kulṯum sister of Moses, and Āsiyah the wife of Pharoah.”
Ḥadīth scholars rejected the authenticity of the ḥadīth outright (see the screen grab from Ibn ʿAdī’s al-Kāmil), but it is rather amazing that Eulogius knew about it.
