California, just by itself, would be the 5th largest economy in the world. Presumably, though, it's solely the Republicans in California who are responsible for this.
I've written about this very bad (and self-defeating) habit of conservative pundits at greater length here. It's bad for our democracy because it contributes to the sort of dehumanization of the other side that we see on steroids in Trump.
