OCTOBER 2

It's been one year since #JamalKhashoggi was brutally murdered.

This is also another sad anniversary for me personally.

My father died 20 years ago today, October 2, 1999.

Rest in peace dad, you wouldn't recognize this world. 🙏🏽

Here is a video of my father Arthur a few years before he passed. He had a TV show in Lebanon about environmentalism, filmed in the small mountain village of Lehfed, where my ancestors, Maronite Christians, are from.

Arthur Daou went from a small Lebanese village to Columbia University's PhD program in engineering. A brilliant man who spent years analyzing and structuring traffic patterns for New York City's major tunnels, then gave it up and eventually became an organic farmer in Lebanon.

Arthur was from a line of poet philosophers and was fluent in three languages and a master of Arabic poetry.

He taught me about courage, honor, and dignity.

Taught me how to hunt and I still vividly remember wandering the Lebanese mountains with him pre-dawn in the sweet air.

Rest in peace dad. I see you in my dreams all the time and look forward to joining you in the other realm one day.

Into this Universe, and Why not knowing
