Took a trip to a Pakistani village literally just in front of the border with India earlier this week, to find out about the effects of cross border shelling... the situation there was so heartbreaking: 
This family’s house in Pakistani Administered Kashmir is less than 1km from an Indian army post, and close to a Pakistani position... their home was partially destroyed earlier this week by Indian shelling...
But it wasn’t the first time the family have been struck... Last year this 16 year old girl had her lower leg amputated after another incident... cross border firing has been going on long before this latest escalation and will in all likelihood continue.
In Kotli hospital these 3 brothers lost two siblings and their mother when their house was hit this week. The neighbours who rescued them can’t bring themselves to tell them their mother is dead... their father died years ago (not in cross border firing) so they’re orphans now
There are similar stories across the border in Indian Administered Kashmir too... I’m no military strategist but can’t see any point to these shelling exchanges, no-one’s trying to invade / capture territory... just pointless and tragic losses of life
