Hey, you guys remember the story of the 2012 SWAT raid on a Kansas family after officers mistook their son's science-experiment hydroponic tomato garden and the mom's loose-leaf tea for marijuana?

10th Cir. just revived their civil rights suit for a second time.
This was the one where the officers barged through the front door at 7:30am, threw the dad to the ground and held him at gunpoint while they rummaged through the house for hours finding no weed and no grow operation.
Oh, and then for good measure on their way out the officers, with zero evidence, told them that their son had a drug problem and they should probably get him treatment.

Anyway, the 10th Cir. has once again revived their lawsuit. ca10.uscourts.gov/opinions/18/18…
The panel continues to make a hash over it though.

I suspect these panelists have a communication problem.

Infuriating. These are not bathroom bill cases. The thing the bathroom bills claim to be addressing isn't even an actual live problem occurring in places with trans anti-discrimination laws.

And yet this illusory fear dominates even tangential discussions.
One of the problems here is that people simply don't know that we've had trans anti-discrimination laws in many places going back to the mid-1990s.

People think this is new and scary, a problem to be solved. In fact, it's so unremarkable you didn't even know it was going on.
Minnesota, for example, has had trans anti-discrimination protections for 25 years without the dreaded "men in the ladies room" problem.

The degree to which this fear has suddenly surged into the public consciousness suggests it's a moral panic.

Lawgeeks, here's the decision and order in Trump v. Vance, in which the district court rejects Trump's request to stop enforcement of a subpoena seeking his tax returns.

He has already noticed his appeal, and Vance told the court he wouldn't act first. courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…
In deciding abstention—that is, the idea that fed. courts should stay out of state criminal matters absent an exception—the court finds that Vance's probe does qualify as an ongoing state criminal prosecution, but "not necessarily a prosecution of the President himself."
The court notes the hush-money escapades of the Trump Org, which already resulted in one conviction, in finding that Trump can't show that Vance is acting in bad faith.

Regardless of Trump blaming the phone call on Perry, like the weak president he is, Perry did not cause Trump to ask for a favor related to the CrowdStrike conspiracy theory.

That's all Trump's delusion.
Illegal? No. Completely deranged to think that Crowdstrike is a Ukrainian company (it's not) or owned or run by a Ukrainian (it's not) or that there was ever a DNC server under Ukrainian control (there wasn't), and for him to tell all that to the Ukrainians. But illegal? No.
It is true that the president is frequently imprecise in his wording.

But he didn't simply ask generally about an investigation. Here, he asked about a specific thing: "they say Crowdstrike... I guess you have one of your wealthy people... The server, they say Ukraine has it."

To blogpost real quick: Last time I went to the hospital was when I was a sophomore in high school. I collapsed for some weird reason and split my chin open and got like eight stitches. Hospitals aren't very fun.
