Having now had dudes explain incorrectly how long it takes to diagnose a heart attack, I now know what it is like to be a nurse among doctors.
Specifically, a female nurse among male doctors.

My and my son’s doctors are all female, so the metaphor ain’t apt for my own care team.
Totally off-topic but during a first exam with a new doctor, she was, no joke, down around eye-level with my man parts when she looked up at me and said “Don’t I know you?”

Me: 👀

Her: 👀

Nurse: 👀

Yeah, she went to my mom’s church.

I might as well lay this down because I’m going to end up saying it again and again over the next year:

Americans have an unhealthy view of elected officials and government.

We put far too much emphasis on heroic figures saving us from our troubles.

1/
The most effective citizen activism over the past two years came at times when we had *zero faith* our representatives would serve us well if we didn’t agitate for the things we need.

Protecting the ACA, reversing the family separation policy, and on and on.

2/
It is great to love our candidates, leaders and elected representatives.

It is very much not great to assume loving them means the things we want and need will come to be if we just watch.

I may or may not have spent an hour unsuccessfully searching for a picture of a vulture with its head up a dead gazelle’s ass.

However, I did find this shot of a young Hoarse searching for the lost fucks to give.

Sadly, none were ever found.
$10 bucks to the first person who correctly guesses that dessert.
The correct answer was the Thar Desert between India and Pakistan.

I would have also accepted ‘flan’.

So here’s a fun story: first let’s start with context. I was raised from birth in what I now know is an Evangelical church (the Church of God of Prophecy specifically). I went to a similarly Evangelical school until 8th grade. Catholic school till college. I was STEEPED in it. 1/
They believe a lot of things. Your standard shit mostly: remarriage bad, LGBTQ bad, Pokémon evil, HP evil, etc. My parents’ pastor thinks education is BAD I guess because he read a book once and there was a swear or some shit. He told me this when I got into grad school. 2/
I’m not a member of this church. I was active in it out of familial obligation until I was about ... 23-24 maybe? But my severance with the church started way earlier. Still, that’s most of my life I was involved in this. My dad’s studying to be a preacher right now. DNW. 3/
