It occurs to me, the absurdity,
Of those who fling thinly veiled threats at us, while somehow still maintaining their own mental image as those who occupy the moral high ground.
Case in point,
"Why don't you show your real faces?" Or something along those lines.
I'll give some the benefit of the doubt and say they're too imbecilic to know the consequences of such an action.
But the others.
They know.
You can almost see the self-satisfied grins on their faces, that they most assuredly had, as they type such responses.
They wish for harm to come to those who they deem "The Enemy".
Such stigma eases the mind, removing inhibitions that tether you away from violent desires.
Their empathy now dulled they are free to push down "the lesser beings".
The unfettered glee,
The thrill of having the freedom to threaten someone openly without any consequences,
The rush of dopamines.
Must be quite the high.
No wonder some cannot help themselves.
Chest puffed out like a presenting peacock,
And so very proud of their actions.
Like a child lacking object permanence,
The thought of the power disparity between them and those they oppress vanish,
As soon as they look away.
"Damn the consequences, it's not like I or anyone I care about has to face them".
I wonder what they would do if someone they loved was in our position?
When it's not some faceless stranger.
Would they still hold true to their "principles"?
The high is truly fleeting.
