We hear it often said that it’s never too late to do the right thing. Thank God for that. But I’ve been unsettled recently, reflecting on the reverse: how we’re never beyond being corrupted. Being seduced into selling our souls. They say we all have a price. We can all be had.
Satan’s a numbers guy. Great with a calculator. Constantly calculating what it would take to buy us out. That even those with sincere & pure devotion to Jesus can be seduced is startlingly clear in 2 Cor.11:3. Seduction is the art of flattery. A hefty bet placed on the human ego.
Let’s keep an eye out, is all I’m saying & not get overconfident. Cocky about our godliness. Proud of how we weren’t sucked into compromise like others. Nothing makes us more vulnerable than thinking we’re not. The proud fall. Being proud of how we haven’t fallen is cliffhanging.
One sure-fire way we servant-leaders can recognize that our fortification is eroding is when we get where we talk way more about God than we talk to Him. Selling Jesus for a living like He’s a product. Rallying people to a way of life we’re not living.
