@WarWounded__ Sir- Beg to disagree
Historically, battle of Panipat 1761was not a war bt Muslims and Marathas. It was a war between the Afghans, local nobility & Mughal Empire.
2. Abdali is considered the founder of modern Afghanistan & is known as "Baba"by natioanlists.1/9
@WarWounded__ 3. You conveniently missed Delhi&1757 campaign, when his armies plundered the city.
4. Abdali was leader of Afg contingent in Nadir Shah’s army&knew the wealth of India 4m NadirShah’s attackof Delhi. Abdali laid foundation of indp state after the murder of Nadir Shah 1747. 2/9
@WarWounded__ 5. His first campaign & attack on India was in 1747 when he was defeated by Safdar Jang at the Battle of Sirhind. He led 7 campaigns against Mughal Empire, in which he managed to reach till Delhi in the last two. 3/9
@WarWounded__ 6. His loot is estimated between 30-120 million along with slaves he took from Delhi & other cities which included Mughal princesses and a daughter of Mughal Emperor Muhammad Shah. Please read the plight of Delhi and its people, narrated by Mir Taqi Mir in his biography4/ 9
@WarWounded__ 7.Marathas were called on by the Mughal Emperor to save him from the wrath of Durranis.
As due to the infighting of the nobles most of them joined Abdali, especially Shuja-udduala (son of Safdar Jang who defeated Abdali earlier), and Najeeb-ud-duala.5/9
@WarWounded__ 8. Also pls read wht happened after1761. Najeeb-ud-daula captured throne at Delhi. After his death 1770, Marathas&Mughals defeated Zabita Khan his son& restored ShahAlam-II to throne. After restoration, the Mughal armies under Najaf Khan manage 2thwart Sikh rebellion inPunjab-6/9
@WarWounded__ 9. Do remember Zabita Khan’s son Ghulam Qadir Rohila, again sacked Delhi 1787, blinded Shah Alam looted the city&raped Mughal princesses. Mughals were again saved by Marathas from the wrath of Rohilas when they drove them out and restored Shah Alam-II to the throne of Delhi
@WarWounded__ 10. At the end of the day, who was the beneficiary of the mayhem created in Punjab and Delhi, and weakening & fall of local powers? #BritishEastIndiaCompany
@WarWounded__ Do you know in Punjabi, there is still a saying—“Khada Peeta Lahey Da—Baaqi Ahmad Shahey Da” meaning that Eat, drink, & use what you have, rest will be looted by Ahmad Shah.
