We knew this was coming, but there's nothing like seeing a bad idea go from a new regulation to the actual implementing forms to really make it real.

The courts just can't kill this #PublicCharge nonsense fast enough

This new form is 18 pages, and will in many cases require as much (or more) work than the rest of the package. I hate it so much
Not on the new #PublicCharge form, for some reason:

--# bankruptcies you've had
--how many loans you've arranged with the NYC mob
--names of contractors you've ripped off, with $$ amounts
(CORRECTION: bankruptcies are in fact on the form. I meant to say # of casino bankruptcies, but you get the idea)

This #MattGaetz horseshit is pretty funny and all but can you even imagine the consequences if a weed dealer's family organized a flash mob to crash his closed grand jury proceedings?

Okay, you can stop imagining now. They'd go to jail.
And that's for a closed proceeding ahead of charges that could send someone to prison for decades. The House is basically just conducting a job performance review here for which the worst possible outcome is removal from office. Fuck all the way off.
Criminal courts will do anything to shut down challenges to their own legitimacy, esp. where that resistance comes from the populations our system is designed to repress. But white guys in suits disrupting at the highest levels, that's just a good and normal protest apparently

Every few hrs today I've remembered that a judge just denied an orphan's greencard bc he admitted to smoking marijuana and had a couple of photos (out of hundreds) on his phone goofing with hand signs and that little muscle just over my right eyesocket starts twitching again
Cannabis was legalized in MA the year he got here. And the photos weren't too off from these (to pull just a couple of examples from Googling "white people making gang signs" ), and I would bet my $900 car that the gang unit never came looking for these nice boys and girls
The kid's nowhere near gang-affiliated. I've known his adopted family for years. They keep a short leash. He was working two jobs. Had a baby on the way he's still never met after 14 months in ICE custody. There's no one for him in his home country, nothing but death. He's 21.

The usual disclaimer applies: YMMV, my way is not the only way, everyone's journey is different. This advice is intended for new writers seeking traditional publication. I straight up can't speak to indie/self-publishing because I don't have experience there.
1. The key to all marketing endeavors is WRITING A GREAT BOOK. For real. A book that is compelling, beautifully written, and carefully revised will snag a passionate agent, sell to a quality publishing house in a bigger deal, and receive more marketing attention. Period.

THREAD. I get that.The book business is much more like the film business now, teasing what is to come. Advance orders make a HUGE difference for books and writers, so a lot of pre-release energy gets expended by publishers, and authors (if they are good soldiers) too. 1
Once upon a time Young Me could walk into the River Heights Library in Winnipeg, scan the New Releases shelf near the front (I can still SEE it) and actually shout, shocking people, because the 5th book in Dunnett's Lymond Chronicles was out, and I'D HAD NO IDEA IT WAS COMING. 2
It is very hard to be shocked today by the arrival of a new book by an author one likes...unless you make a real effort to avoid all online media and interactions. Even the first REVIEWS start rolling out well before release now, certainly online. Have to watch for spoilers... 3
