I totally missed the Chris Williamson High Court judgment last week. What a mess. It's not a total win for the Labour Party (as The Times headline suggests). bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/…
To understand the judgment by Mr Justice Pepperall you have to get the odd chronology:
1 27 Feb - Williamson suspended
2 26 June - Williamson reinstated
3 9 July - NEC un-reinstated him after public pressure
4 3 Sep - NEC launched new investigation and re-re-suspended him (!)
Mr Justice Pepperall was pretty unimpressed with Labour's "nuanced" explanation for the 9 July un-reinstating.

Short thread on why I think that the s.14 order banning all Extinction Rebellion assemblies linked to the 'Autumn Uprising' in London will probably be overturned by the courts
I had a more detailed look at this today and I’m pretty convinced this will he found to be unlawful. Seems far to wide a use of s14 powers, which are limited to imposing conditions on protests, not banning them, and especially not banning them city-wide...
s.14A does permit the banning of assemblies in a particular location but (a) needs approval from Home Sec, (b) cannot be more than a 5-mile radios, (c) that is not the power the police claim to have used used (was s.14(1))...

Wow, a London-wide ban on @ExtinctionR seems pretty draconian even under the wide ranging powers granted to the police under s14 of the public order act
This may well be lawful if previous conditions haven’t worked (see Statement) but s14 itself may not permit complete city wide bans. In any event, if it permits that then the measure must still be proportionate ie only goes as far as necessary with reference to protest rights
As things stand, 5 XR protesters standing on the pavement outside my house would be breaking the law. As would school children with XR banners in a park. The ban seems draconian and extremely heavy handed even given previous disruption
