found some bike gloves i liked at a store but they didn't stock the size i wanted so i ordered them online. deliberately picked the site that wasn't amazon. took them two days to send me a shipping notice and then there's no tracking number. this is why amazon consumed ecommerce.
i just have no idea when this item will arrive. the parcel services have a mechanism for this, and the company i bought from received their tracking number and just threw it in the garbage instead of sending it in the useless email they sent me
i wouldn't care if it was some kind of extra service, but knowing the information *was provided to them* and they *chose not to give it to me* feels shitty.
i am lucky enough to live in a house, and the item is low-value. it'll probably be left at my door. if i lived in an apartment I'd just have no way to either find out when this will arrive so i can be here, or find out that delivery was failed due to apartment horseshit
and I didn't know this before i hit Complete Purchase. hell, I don't even know that the company told the truth. without a tracking number I have no proof they shipped my product at all. Maybe it's still in the warehouse.
Again I would buy local if anyone stocked anything. Nobody does. The few stores that exist still have a withered selection and never include sizes that fit me.
I would be happy to bike to Kent if I knew the product was in stock there, but there's no way to know that except to call and have awkward, mumbled conversations and hang up unsure what the answer was because modern telephones have godawful mics.
Also the product won't be in stock because our economy is devastated and retailers have nothing other than what it takes to fill pegs.
telling people not to buy from amazon is like telling people not to buy from supermarkets when the closest farmers market is forty miles away or only opens once a week. buy amazon, make it a co-op and stop comping next-day shipping
