1) Going to do a long thread on how the media has reacted to Bernie absolutely destroying the debate tonight. I thought I’d try to do one for once that doesn’t require me to quote tweet a different tweet after the fact.
2) Bernie absolutely had his strongest debate of the primary but if you were looking at twitter trends, you wouldn’t know it as they first lumped him in with Warren and Biden under Dem debate despite other candidates getting to trend in their own and later Warren also getting
3) to trend in her own while Bernie and Biden are still inexplicably lumped into Dem debate. I can tell this because neither of them are in the top 20 trends. 
4) But what I found interesting is that much like after the kamala/Biden interaction in the first debate, MSNBC and CNN had Completely different narratives they were pushing after the fact. They both pushed Mayor Pete like crazy and to a lesser extent Klobuchar but otherwise
5) they were completely different. Basically CNN was Pushing Warren early while taking shots at Biden while msnbc was going after Warren really hard. But let’s start with CNN’s coverage first
6) They started their post debate coverage by mostly ignoring Bernie while somehow claiming the big winners were Klobuchar and Mayor Pete as well as Warren and that the big takeaway was that Warren is the frontrunner and everyone on stage knew it
7) van jones finally briefly gave Bernie a bit of love but only before he claimed we might be looking at a Warren vs Mayor Pete race going forward. CNN then had breaking news about AOC’s endorsement to which John King said some arguably racist things but definitely made an ass
8) out of himself by trying to use Internet as an adjective. Here’s the clip
9) They then immediately brought Klobuchar in and continued the ridiculously strong push the network had given her all night. They hosted the debate and gave her too much speaking time and then kissed her ass afterwards and had her on to smear progressives for a solid few mins
10) They then after a commercial went to a sit down interview with Mayor Pete where they once again gushed all over him, as it was very clear that one of the desired narratives of CNN tongiht was to push Mayor Pete and Klobuchar even hot Pete came off like a a jackass to Beto
11) and I thought had a bad debate as a result and Klobuchar isn’t even going to make the next debate. What this said to me was that Biden is in a bit of a trouble. He’s reportedly got less than 10 million bucks on hand and CNN seems to be turning on him a bit and hoping
12) Mayor Pete or Klobuchar can come in and save the day. As I said earlier Van Jones was even talking about a final 2 of Warren and mayor Pete. I got the feeling that they don’t think Biden can get it done and will move on to someone else in order to stop Medicare4All
13) Perhaps this was the moment it became clear to them.
14) Next we had an interview with Booker which wasn’t super notable outside of Booker bringing up the documentary he was in 20 years ago for about the millionth time
15) Then they interviewed Kamala and I skimmed it as I knew it would be a stupid interview when Tapper asked her about trump and twitter. Then we had a Yang interview that was also fine And really only notable for Cuomo egging Yang to take a few shots at Warren
16) Also funny to hear Yang shoot down most of Cuomo’s stupid talking points about moderation. Then they interviewed Warren as they continued to promote her as the frontrunner. They were practically begging her to give up Medicare4All but otherwise the only noteworthy thing
17) Was Warren’s reaction when they mentioned AOC’s endorsement as seen here.
18) they did literally go down the line with like 5 different people begging Warren to split from Bernie. To Warren’s credit she kept saying “yes, I agree with Bernie’s bill” but then again debate night Warren has been great on the issue, it’s non debate night Warren that hasnt
19) I mean Jesus Christ, I kid you not that they spent over 4+ minutes pushing anti-Medicare4all talking points on her. I might have to actually clip it because it’s one of the more insane things I’ve seen in a while.
20) I lied it was actually seemingly over 8 minutes. After that there was a beto interview but I got tired with it and am stopping CNN coverage as I’ve had enough. Basically CNN mentioned AOC endorsing Bernie twice, but didn’t mention a single moment of his from the debate
21) basically a complete Bernie blackout in over 90 minutes of coverage on CNN. But let’s get to msnbc because who doesn’t love to watch a bunch of centrist hacks talk crap about progressives while lying nonstop.
22) So over on MSNBC we got a video montage of highlights from the debate that featured almost no mention of Bernie. They then proceeded to push Mayor Pete like crazy and to a lesser extent Klobuchar. However they absolutely killed Warren.
23) They implied that she didn’t handle criticism well and that Medicare4All was a bad topic for her. They made a joke about her being “petulant”. There was also almost no mention of AOC‘s endorsement of Bernie other than a short comment mid sentence that was never responded to
24) As I’ve warned Warren supporters, msnbc will turn on Warren in a second when they think she’s actually a threat. Also msnbc implied Biden had a good debate. Was funny to see Castro call CNN‘s handling of the Debate as journalistic malpractice.
25) They started pushing Mayor Pete as an eventual Biden replacement as well. Just total ignoring of Bernie. They are just going to pretend that Bernie didn’t kill it and are mentioning numerous candidates without mentioning him in recapping the debate with Robert Acosta
26) MSNBC has now gone over an hour and not mentioned Bernie in regards to his debate for a single second. It took them bringing in a new talking head in Alicia Menendz to finally bring up Bernie. Brian Williams looks disgusted that this newbie would bring up Bernie unprompted
27) they comically tried to switch the conversation to Klobuchar mere seconds later. Next we had an interview with Booker where Rosario Dawson was in the background and I sweat I got the sense when Booker was talking about the need for a fighter, she was thinking about Bernie
28) We are now 70 minutes in, and we have our first Bernie coverage from the debate.... and it’s about Bernie’s age Because of course, they then used the same poll numbers Kornacki used earlier to smear Bernie like crazy. So we went from Bernie blackout to Bernie smearing
29) I’ve seen enough, McCaskill said all of Bernie and Warren’s ideas will never happen
30) apparently they briefly said a few nice things at the very end of their program when no one was watching and that’s it. Both CNN and msnbc pushing mayor Pete so hard despite him being an ass during the debate means they don’t believe in Biden and that’s my main take away

36) and one last takeaway, was anyone else shocked that Biden only named dropped Obama maybe once or twice? Maybe Obama has even told Biden he’s not supporting him.
37) Actually let’s end with arguably Bernie's strongest line of the night, tho I’d argue his healthcare line was better,
38) Update twitter says on its explore page that Bernie was a top trend yet he never appeared on the trending list at any point after the debate
40) Screw it, let’s make it an even 40. If you thought CNN gave Beto and Klobuchar more speaking time than Bernie, you were correct
