Theresa May bent over backwards towards the DUP and shaped her #brexit deal around avoiding a hard border while maintaining as much integrity of "UK" as possible
she conceded that NI effectively dictated regulation in the whole of the UK - and had a big say in all future UK trade relations..
her aims for the long-term relationship would have meant that the whole UK was in a close enough relationship with the EU such that NI did not need to be a special case...
this agreement puts NI in a very different economic space from the rest of the UK from the get-go.. and consent process will probably means it stays there (otherwise EU won'y accept it..)
that may be great news for business in NI - which means it gets much of the "best of both worlds". But it looks miles away from what @duponline wanted to get out of Brexit..
@duponline what it looks much more like is what the SNP first asked for for Scotland - a special relationship with the EU.. galling if the DUP get that (and money) ...
@duponline which all means further pressure on the already fraying union...
