Northerners from time immemorial have always been communal in their approach to life, little wonder they are more united than their counterparts from other part of the country, same way they seem to know each other by name, face and family houses. No matter how large the setting.
So, when I heard of #ATAwards2019 I was interested in studying how it will look like in twittersphere, and how much has changed from the traditional culture.
To begin with, @__yellows is a likeable chap, We are friends,have met more than once. He is a good guy. Yet no one is perfect!
#ATAwards had so many flaws, the sole purpose (in my opinion) was lost when it derailed into a personal feud.

I want these concerns I’m going to raise to serve as learning points for the upcoming awards (if any), and maybe soothe the ill-feelings the recently concluded award has caused, to avoid a repeat!

Firstly, the sampling technique employed is so inadequate that it is the weakest link in the awards.
@__yellows said that nominees with the highest nominations were fielded for voting 🗳 but who nominated this nominees? 💁♂️ It wasn’t public and definitely not transparent.

which implies @__yellows and a caucus were at liberty to choose these nominees at their discretion, and as we all know the heart is fickle and has it’s tricks. Tricks which both @__yellows and @Abvz__ fell for by nominating their allies in positive categories and some of their
adversaries in negative categories. practice that is both unethical and unfair. Yet it happened in some cases.
My observations are as follows:

and confusions arising from personal vendettas and grudges, sadly they came from @__yellows and @Abvz__ handles, side effects of which @__yellows is still paying for days after the awards.

recuse yourself from being among the nominees, a rule which was not upheld as both @__yellows and @Abvz__ were nominees for many positive categories (Most influential, Ladysman’ and Most Popular) 🤦♂️
3. Slay Queen of the Year - including @Ladyposhhhhh in this category is not only belittling but also demeaning, we all know how good and exemplary @Ladyposhhhhh’s character has been on this platform.

constant on Twitter for almost a decade now, I know her from when her handle was @Sultana, she stood up to the worst form of e-bullies on this platform, most of the bullies have retired now though 😜, and she is still here, strong and happily married.
