@XRLiberation went live 13 days ago, in anticipation of the #InternationalRebellion in London.
We had some idea of what to expect, but also knew to keep our minds, eyes and ears open.
So, what’s next? For us... and also for you?

Our starting mandate was to listen. Really listen.
The activists in our collective come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, but have always known we could never speak for everyone.
So instead of rushing into presumptive solutions, we promised to hear people out first.

We’ve done this by:
• talking to people out on sites
• following conversations here on Twitter
• asking anyone who has the time/energy/desire to email us and share their experiences.
It’s been humbling, enlightening, infuriating, inspiring.

Many examples of structural oppression we recognized because of our own personal experiences.

There are no doubt many stories we’ve missed, but we’ll start with the ones we have.
Because already they provide a very clear roadmap of what structural oppressions exist within @XRebellionUK, and what changes we have to make for our movement to have any chance of success.

And to make this perfectly clear: structural oppressions exist within XR.
They exist within XR because they exist within our society, and it’s precisely those structural oppressions that have brought us to the brink of climate collapse.
The question is how we move forward.

We won’t lay things out here yet because, well, we need a regen moment first 😴
Our bodies are sore from lock-ons and police station cells. Our ears are ringing from endless calls. Our minds are drained from constant conversation. Our thumbs are stiff from tweeting. Really.

But we’re also full to the brim with ideas. Your ideas.
And we need a chance to regroup and strategize so that we can convey these ideas effectively and empathetically, in order to implement the changes our movement so desperately needs.
This is an emergency, after all.

In the meantime, we ask you to consider the changes each and every one of us will need to make within ourselves in order to grow as activists.

We ask you to consider the changes our movement will need to make in order to finally become truly inclusive and model the future we are rebelling for.

We know it’ll be real a challenge, but we’re not fazed.
We fully intend on rebuilding the whole damn house so that there is finally a place for everyone.
Change always feels most impossible when you’re in the middle of making it.
