I agree that the side letters are waffle and the Benn Act letter, signed or not, is the key letter and the EU knows it.

I have to say that I think neither the Attorney General @Geoffrey_Cox or the Advocate General do their reputations much good here.

Trust and decency matter
So does good faith, dignity and grace.

So does our reputation as a country for statesmanlike conduct.

Completely shot.

Order of business message from the Hof C for today and this week suggests that the Gov IS planning to accede to the Letwin order of business. Of course that maybe changing as I write.

This suggests the WAB is finally being introduced.

It was expected to be long & contentious.
Even if the exhausted HofC try to skip steps I am pretty sure the HofL will be ready to review, given they have several high calibre lawyers (eg Lords Pannick and Hope) in their midst as well as v experienced Parliamentarians.

Number 10 had a problem when the Letwin Amendment passed

Under the Benn Act there was an inescapable duty for an extension request to be sent

No way round it

2.
Had the request not been sent, the Benn Act would have been breached

The averments (ie, promises) to the Scottish court would have been breached

The Lord Chancellor, Scottish Advocate General, Attorney General all would (or should) resign

So

Johnson and Cummings' botched prorogation plan led to Supreme Court taming PM's prerogative power, the Benn Act and the averments to the Scottish court

Their tactical capitulation to get a deal alienated DUP and failed to beat Benn Act anyway

All not going to plan really
Some will uncritically nod-along with "Number 10 source" but tactical failures keep mounting up, creating in turn new problems

Classic Dom
Five week prorogation > Benn Act > Averments to Scottish courts

Also prorogation > Supreme Ct limits PM use of prerogative

Capitulation to get deal and avoid Benn Act > loss of DUP > Letwin Amendment > Benn Act Letter

All Dom's tactical manoeuvres just create bigger problems

#FDR promoted the idea that the people of the world, in all nations, shared entitlement to four freedoms: that of the freedom of speech and expression, the freedom of worship, the freedom from want and the freedom from fear.
#FDR is arguably one of the most 'successful' #US Presidents. Some would argue that on the basis of his numerous social policies such as 'the New Deal'. Others, however, would argue that his role during the second world war was more prevalent to his success & everlasting legacy.
