@MikayesFiona 1) My thoughts on Tulsi from a non-vet perspective. Whenever I thank a vet for their service the conversation only goes 2 ways:

A. (Never saw combat) They look down, get a little flustered and say they were in logistics or never left San Diego or whatever. Then..
2) they ALWAYS say "the ones who deserve the thanks are those who saw combat." They deliberately play down their service role.

B) (saw real combat) These vets look you in the eye, give you a real firm handshake and say that my thanks means a lot to them. Then with soulful eyes..
3) They ALWAYS say "I was one of the lucky ones who made it home alive, I lost a lot of good friends there." You can feel the emotions they are carrying and they never go into details about what really went down. And they never brag.
4) The problem we have with Tulsi cannot be solved INTELLECTUALLY because we are having an unconscious EMOTIONAL reaction to her failing to clarify her service role. You can't feel better about her by analyzing how many miles from the front she was or counting how many mortars..
5) landed near her base. There is something in your gut that recognizes she is not behaving like most vets do. She's letting the warrior image sit out there when most vets would do everything to downplay that impression.

She could turn this all into a positive with one simple...
6) thing.

Get in front of a camera and tell us exactly where and how you served.

Then tell us you were lucky never to be in real danger.

Then tell us your medical role gave you the privilege of helping wounded soldiers and showing you the horrors of politicians throwing...
young men and women into a meat grinder with no clear objectives or strategy.

People on both sides of the aisle would embrace and applaud her for that.

Until she does this we'll keep feeling uneasy about her and think her enlistment was just for resume enhancement.

End.
