- Power grab for ministers over Northern Ireland
- A Commons vote on “divorce bill”

Meanwhile in @thetimes @Raphael_Hogarth says

The bill will have to implement the new Protocol on Ireland which would introduce some customs checks on goods moving from GB to NI. That part of agreement is so new that officials will have had little time to work on the legislation

There is a curious plan emerging to corner Boris Johnson next week

The remain alliance have been discussing a nascent idea - but aren't sure whether to go ahead with it or whether it'll ultimately help them.

In other words, don't pay *too* much attention to this. Yet.

So:
1. After the election vote on Monday fails, hold a vote on an SO24

2. This SO24 would seize control of the order paper for Tuesday. This would be used to bring back the WAB on Tuesday(🥴) and try and push it through

Why do that?
Why do this?

- Letwin wants to be seen helping get Brexit thru
- 2nd Ref-ers want to attach 2Ref amendment to WAB
- Supporters of Common Market 2.0 also want chance to do amendment

But also

- *This possibly delays election vote until after Nov 5 meaning no 2019 polling day*

As a result of this weekend’s decisions this👇could well be what it comes down to.
If things seem complicated, it’s because there appear to be majorities in the Commons for several things - deal, deal plus CU, perhaps 2ref, maybe an election.

Picking up nervousness among cabinet types at decision not to hold amended vote on BJ’s deal yesterday. A straight vote on deal may never now happen, if the Speaker deems it a repeat of Saturday. If gvt tries to use legislation to secure approval, high chance it will be amended
These are the rules governing whether another vote can take place after Saturday
The assumption on Friday night amongst ministers (tho what do they know, No10 might ask) was that there would be a vote on a Letwin-amended revised brexit deal. Then by Sat morning No10 made clear they would whip to abstain / not divide house. Lots of people want to know why...

The electoral college, as explained in the Federalist No. 19, was put in place a mixture of state based and population based government. Where the Senate was state based, Congress was population based, and the President a mixture of those two.
Before the electorial college was established, it was regonized a popular election was preferred, but that many many states would not give consensus due to the prevalence of slavery in the southern states.
Once the electorial college was implemented, even those who favored a popular election recognized the value of the electorial college due to it's ability to protect the election process from cabal, corruption, intrigue, and faction.

I’m a Pastor’s child, an MK, the product of multiple generations of holiness people, most of whom were preachers.

I was served up School of Tomorrow’s ACE curriculum from grades K-12, except the year we used CLE curriculum... which is actually worse.

It’s only with the birds’ eye view of years and philosophical distance that I can look back and say “That was abuse. Pure and simple.”

ACE is Calvinistic to the core, which made it an odd choice for a family that believed John Wesley stood next to Jesus’ cross.
