A PM who simply refuses to behave like a grown up and pays for it in Parliamentary defeats if not yet in public opinion. The overwhelming desire to deliver against his own October 31st deadline delivered a hurried deal which deserves proper scrutiny.
To "leave with this deal" he has to be prepared to properly defend it, which means providing the proper detail, rather than for example pretending away Northern Ireland-GB friction. Perfectly doable in theory, and would build trust. But can this PM do it?
From the EU side this seems sensible on extension.

BUT the longer we go, the more ridiculous the original timescales for the future agreement.

Think though that as long as the Government prefers to achieve Brexit before an election it is within reach - there will be enough votes given sufficient concessions around the margins.
So looks like Jan 31. Government and opposition to now decide if they want an election, at which Johnson would be clear favourite (not winning in Parliament, but strong public messaging). But timescales for future FTA getting even more unrealistic.
