1/ Trumpkins would gladly rip up the entire Constitution at this point except the gun part. They would leave that part in and take their chances with everything else...They believe in no other part of it, and certainly nothing else in the Bill of Rights or other key amendments...
2/ They don't believe in free speech or press except for people like themselves. They support Trump threatening to sue critics, they openly advocate shutting down press hostile to the president...They oppose freedom of religion except for Christians (and Jews like Ben Shapiro)...
3/ They oppose due process in criminal proceedings: they advocate stop and frisk and racial/religious profiling (as does Trump), and detaining asylum seekers, in violation of due process; and I suspect they have no problem with illegal searches or seizures (of certain people)...
4/ They have no problem with cruel and unusual punishment (many advocate shooting border crossers on site--also, see, no due process), and I'm sure have sadistic views about how to treat convicted persons (except for Trump officials, of course)...
5/ They care nothing for the = protection clause (they support voter restrictions that hit POC specifically, among other things) & seek to repeal birthright citizenship in the 14th Am & deny all human rights to non citizens (even tho they are guaranteed in the constitution)...
6/ They don't even really support the 10th Amendment (which some use to defend "states rights") bc they oppose California's right to set their own emissions standards or states and localities to become sanctuaries for migrants, etc...
7/ And of course, they also don't believe in separation of powers, congressional oversight or legislative control of spending (see, diverting appropriated money for the border wall, even though it wasn't voted for that purpose)...
8/ Truly the only thing in the Constitution they care about is "muh guns!" They are not constitutional conservatives. They are firearm fetishists and fanatics. This country deserves better than them and what they have wrought.

You do realize how utterly venal this makes you right? Buying land is not the same as pressuring a government to dig up dirt on your opponent for personal political gain.
This is like saying every time you go to the grocery, checking out and actually paying for your shit is a quid pro quo with the store...this is what passes for intellect among the right...

1/ I love how right wingers responded to my post earlier (about the arrest of UCONN students for shouting racial slurs) by saying their speech was protected and my claim to the contrary was a "bad legal take." Yet they ignored my argument, which followed existing precedent...
2/ The important decisions are Chaplinsky which set forth the fighting words doctrine and the Virginia v Black decision. In the first, the court held that certain words had such little value outside of their intention to provoke, as to not be protected. Admittedly, since then...
3/ The court has applied this standard inconsistently and so it's hard to know if the CT law that was applied here would be upheld. I was arguing it should be, but I know it could go either way. I made an argument for why it should, which critics ignored of course...

you can't point to tax cuts bc the biggest drops in black unemployment during the president's time in office were before the cuts took effect (and studies have shown very little job creation effect for anyone because of them)...
likewise, there is not one study of piece of evidence to suggest some minor deregulatory efforts would explain it...there has been no direct stimulus or targeted effort. The enterprise zone stuff has benefitted white owned businesses in black areas (but workers not black)

This is one of the most idiotic talking points in the entire immigration debate. The issue is not the rate of additional crimes perpetrated by illegal immigrants, who are 100% lawbreakers by definition. The issue is crimes that should not be happening AT ALL.
Many of the illegals who perpetrate these crimes are repeat offenders, and Democrat open-borders policy demonstrably interferes with efforts to catch and incarcerate or deport them.
The type of criminal activity involved is relevant as well. Some illegals become muscle for gangs and distribution manpower for drug networks. The manpower could be more of a southern border issue than the drugs themselves.

1. Manafort is pleading guilty to two counts of conspiracy against the United States.
2. Each of those two counts carries a five year maximum sentence, so the maximum sentence for these guilty pleas is 10 years.

Manafort agrees that under the Sentencing Guidelines, the recommended sentencing range would be above 10 years -- specifically 210-262 months.
3. Manafort agrees not to challenge that calculation, even though no sentence above 10 years could be imposed in DC.

The Government agrees to recommend that the the sentence for the DC case and the Virginia convictions run concurrently.

@TomTugendhat @Andrew_Adonis 4. Under pressure from the Economic Ruin Group (ERG), Mrs May triggered A50 prematurely, without impact assessments and, crucially, without agreement in her party as to what form #Brexit should take, let alone a plan.
