Since his election in 2010, Palazzo has refused to participate in debates w opponents, like @jerameyanderson in 2018.

Here's what Palazzo said when asked why he won't hold public townhalls. He claimed it was about not wanting to deal with Dems angry over Trump. But he hasn't held a town hall since 2012, as the Republican who wrote this noted.

Palazzo says he doesn't need public town halls bc he holds tele-town halls. But his team gets to pick which callers he speaks to & constituents don't get to challenge him directly. So he can say things like this about kids in cages w no pushback:

Search YouTube for former Congressman Gene Taylor, though, and you'll find hours of videos of him at town halls, allowing constituents to challenge and even yell at him. In 2010 vids, conservatives yell at him over Pelosi being speaker & the ACA (which he didn't vote for).
Steven Palazzo narrowly ousted Gene Taylor in 2010 and Mississippi voters in House District 4 haven't seen him debate an opponent since. Palazzo hasn't held a live public town hall since 2012.
