Here’s something I believe many people are missing. Both China and the U.S. need a conflict with one another as a distraction to the fact both of their systems are failing simultaneously.
Which is why tensions will rise from here into the coming years. Nothing fundamentally changed except politicians now need a scapegoat.
This isn’t to say I believe the China-U.S. relationship has been good for the U.S., I think it’s been horrible.
But it’s been horrible for decades. There’s a reason politicians are now jumping on it, and it’s not because freedom or caring about Hong Kong.
China didn’t force the U.S. to do anything, it wasn’t in position to do so. Our homegrown elites did this. For money. So don’t invent fairytales about it, American elites sold the country out. Period.
