This is a fantastic simulation of #proportionalrepresentation.
The key question is: "Now that Canadians have elected a minority govt, will the Liberals be influenced by the NDP and the Greens, who both have called for #electoralreform?"

1/ The headline inside the article is misleading, suggesting the Conservatives could have "won" the election, since every simulation here has their seat count changing hardly at all.
2/ NB: With PR, people vote differently. Think of all the people who voted strategically in this election - or didn't vote at all.
3/ NB: "parallel" is not a proportional system & since no one has ever floated it in🇨🇦, it's unclear why CBC chose it, especially compared to other popular PR models. With a parallel system it's still likely a party with well less than 50% of the vote can form a majority govt.
4/ CBC has also simulated a "pure" proportional system - which has never been on the table for Canada. It's unconstitutional and frankly irrelevant.
5/ Since 1921, PR has been studied about 16 times in Canada. Two systems stand out over and over: Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) which is in this article, and Single Transferable Vote (PR-STV), which is not in this article.
6/ In their supplementary report to the federal electoral reform committee in 2016, the NDP and Greens recommended either MMP or Rural-Urban Proportional (which is like a blend of MMP and STV designed to accommodate our rural geography).
7/ All PR systems for Canada maintain local representation and deliver proportional results.
