I get Macron enjoys his power & likes playing Napoleon, but he’s just trashed a decade of EU policy by arbitrarily vetoing further expansion & now threatens to destroy French businesses & lives of French cits in UK with no-deal. Can’t he leave the malignant narcissism to Johnson?
The hilarious thing is this is literally the guy who wants to lead Europe, and with each passing move he is making himself the most isolated leader in the entire club
Sorry if Napoleon reference caused offence. I didn’t at all mean in Fra/UK context but in Macron’s emperor complex, which I think is a problem. He’s unilaterally trying to change EU policy on expansion & unlike other leaders, will now be seen to intervene in UK domestic politics
I am also not remotely blaming Macron for the Brexit horror show, which (obviously) is entirely of our own making. I am simply suggesting that a French veto of the extension - which I would find surprising but has been discussed in reports - would make a bad situation worse
