I’m so pissed. @Angular Taiwan’s organizer told me just now that he’s cancelled my speaking slot AND that I have NO HOTEL accomodations because I’m not speaking.

While there is more to this story NONE OF IT is good. This happened last year that he agreed to reimburse for travel and then when I submitted him receipts he tried to tell me he didn’t have the money. He took it back, and paid. I gave him the benefit of the doubt.
Then, throughout the year he’s jerked me around, and after the 5th time of jerking me around I was fed up and finally said something. Then, his idea of resolution is CANCELLING ME AND TELLING ME THAT IM STRANDED WITH NO HOTEL IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY.

The most annoying part is I’ve dragged @benlesh to Taiwan for this conference and now I have massive regrets.
I’ve given the organizer the benefit of the doubt SEVERAL TIMES before I said, hey, this makes me feel shitty what you’re doing, and his RESOLUTION IS STRANDING ME AND CANCELLING MY SPEAKING SLOT.
@jsdc_tw maybe you can teach other organizers how not to be shitty to their speakers.
I’m fine, and I’ll get a hotel, but now I’m out $700 + because hotels are now crazy expensive last minute AND I’ve lost a week where I could be home working not to mention HOURS OF TIME PREPPING MY TALK.
His excuse was “there must be a language barrier”.

Not to mention, at some point in time he asked me to share a room with another speaker. IM THE ONLY FEMALE SPEAKER.

Furthermore, the emotional labor for having to deal with this is annoying AF and no one should have to go through that or be treated like shit.
The organizer Kevin Yang is a GDE and MVP which is basically creating social validation that @angular Taiwan is a safe place and this community member is a safe human. @kubra__zengin @_KylePaul @betsyweber @CMTalavera
JSDC has done a great job at conference organizing in Taiwan and making people feel welcome. They are good examples to follow.
