Before people get too excited a few facts. The @peoplesvote_uk campaign is coalition of groups inc @OFOCBrexit @FFSake_ @OpenBritain @euromove and the Joint Media Unit. @RolandRudd is chair of Open Britain. He styles himself as chair of PV but this has never been agreed by all1/6
He has tonight sent an email, without any consultation with the other groups, saying James McGrory and Tom Baldwin have been fired to be replaced immediately by Patrick Heneghan of @euromove (again without consulting EM) as interim CEO PV. He does not have the right to do so. 2/6
While the staff have been busy fighting for a @peoplesvote_uk and organising one of the biggest marches of modern times Rudd has been engaged close to full time in boardroom politics, a board which with few exceptions has done little for the campaign. 3/6
Rudd has won that particular battle but has done little to help the bigger battle for a @peoplesvote_uk and the timing of his latest move underlines an approach which has had other groups pressing for him to make way for someone else Eg Hezza or Beckett 4/6
He had agreed to make way after accepting that his role in the previous referendum, and his status as a multimillionaire businessman were not the best look for the campaign. This suggests this was just one of many lies told en route. All very sad and irritating 5/6
But the fight for PV goes on, JMU shall continue to pay Tom B salary and happy to pick up tab for James too. Few have done as much as those two to get us where we are 6/6
