George Washington's Farewell Address -

A letter written by Pres George Washington, near the end of his 2nd term, to "friends and fellow-citizens" after 20 years of public service to the United States; before retiring to his home at Mount Vernon in Virginia.
The letter was first published as: 'The Address of Gen. Washington to the People of America on His Declining the Presidency of the United States' in the "American Daily Advertiser," Sep 19th, 1796
The Address is a timeless statement of the founding values of the American Constitutional Republic. It warns of the pitfalls of foreign influence, special interests, and despotism. It was reprinted in newspapers and pamphlets throughout the country.
