It's not hard to see that the whole division between engineering and design is artificial. Plenty of engineering programs integrate design (iteration, goal setting, prototyping, ergonomics).

A friend gave me this, which closes the divide:
And of course our first makers didn't divide these things - to make the first home, bridge, castle or website required designing and engineering acts.

It's only later as professions formalized that these things were divided and made to seem separate.
When Rebelling designed the Brooklyn bridge, he was thinking "is this design? or engineering? I'm doing?" He was trained to think about aesthetics, function and use - it wasn't a separate set of professions.
Designers and Engineers really do share so many traits and tendencies. It's a failure of leadership when they are made to feel like adversaries instead of allies.
