2. Someone who has been doing this far longer than I have, though has gone off the path in the Trump era, used to say (and I have emails to prove it) that "in gubernatorial elections, all politics really is local."

It means Stefanowski ran a hell of a local race, and that's all there is to it. It doesn't mean Connecticut will be any less liberal on the presidential level in 2020.

Presidential and Senatorial elections are far more ideological than gubernatorial elections, which have almost no predictive value at all re: the formers.
