This Dem voter-vs-Dem operative/donor divide is fascinating.

But I also wouldn’t completely dismiss elite Dem opinion — many of their jobs are tied directly to winning races and uniting the party.

They’re not always right, but they have a clear stake in the outcome
And right now, they’re seeing a Top 4 field consisting of:

— a vulnerable Biden
— a stalling Warren and worries about M4A
— a Pete who might not have upside with diverse voters
— and a Bernie who just had a heart attack
Moreover, among this Top 4:

— all are white
— 3 are 70+, the other is 37
— 3 are from the East Coast/New England
— none has won a statewide general outside the East Coast/NE

The party also is more divided than ever by ideology and age.
Now Bloomberg isn’t the answer here — he’s 70+, white, and would have a difficult time uniting liberal and moderate Dems.

And most polling shows that the Top 4 *can* beat Trump.

But if you want to know why elite Dems are worried (and they’re *always* worried) that’s why
