Thread. Only one of subjects in these pics answer to #sustainability without eco damaging side effects. Imagine, amount of #energy used to heat millions of offices schools public buildings homes. Could easily be cut in half simply wearing #wool, #sheepskin etc.
Solar is storing up massive problems for the future forbes.com/sites/michaels…
Wind power? Unintended consequences? No, you were warned

Back to wool. It was thought wool was a comparatively new technology until the discovery of wool in archaeological sites connected with the Starčevo which went uncommented on by western academia for almost three decades.I learned of it via my gf, @ZrnicZorica who did Archaeology
at Belgrade Uni. She is a staunch supporter of animal derived fashion. She is always fascinated by leather from Ancient Egypt etc. and this one of her Facebook posts which highlights the issue of fast fashion & synthetics. There is zero discussion in the current narrative against
meat by people like William Ripple, Mickey Mouse et al 🤣in the current narrative re sustainability. Of course, Ripple is connected with Loma Linda Uni, Seventh Day Adventist vegetarian advocating. So no surprise there he managed to tack in his pet crusade & some academics were
daft enough to sign. Other 'research' too, has failed abysmally to included co-products in animals in their data, and that means its WORTHLESS. So #EatLancet etc only fit to recycle as toilet paper. And again, Vegan bias of 80% of authors. Poore oft cited by @BBCNews, the same.
@BBCNews And of course, Extinction Rebellion are connected with an anti animal use extremists and those ideologically motivated by hate, like Monbiot. So, the reduction of livestock to nutrients alone should be rejected out of hand as FALSE. So lets come back to wool.
@BBCNews and Serbia. If a hypothesis is correct, it should stand up to testing & observation. So, we have 6500 years of sheep use in Serbia. So lets look at regions, where sheep kept, and the regions where crops hold sway. Oh dear; looks like that #PLANTBASED is the problem, not the sheep
@BBCNews That, is a 6500 year old test of sustainability, and they are still producing not just meat with their million or so sheep, but also wool. In traditional ways revolana.com/2017/08/the-sc…
@BBCNews So, hypothesis falsified that sheep meat & wool are not sustainable. That's it, that is all we need to show it, but it is repeated in Turkey on even bigger scale where they have 44 million sheep & 17 mill cattle. And,North where many kept, has 57% forest and a 4000 year old
@BBCNews yew tree. The leather and sheepskin industry is hugely important to the Turkish economy. And, Turkey has planted 4 billion trees, and given 300 sheep to each farmer as it sees what happen re strain urban growth by people with no work moving to urban areas. Both Turkey and Serbia
@BBCNews Have wolves bears & lynx in these sheep areas, classified as Least Concern, ie common by the IUCN. It is an absolute farce, that west thinks such areas need protection from them. These are there, not in spite of sheep & livestock but BECAUSE that is mainstay in these rural areas
When livestock are assessed, not including co-produce like wool and hide, versus the ecological cost of alternatives, is DECEPTION & FRAUD by those producing the so called science. So if you read a pile of spew which just looks at it in nutrition terms, check the authors bias.
Especially if if has the grubby paws of Loma Linda, the Food and Climate Research Newtork (Garnett, Springmann & the vegan groovy gang), Willets vegetarian crusade & EATLancet etc or the self interested elite & big financial investors in fake meat. Cotton & other arable crops...
Will never have same advantages re warmth thus less reliance fossil fuels, of wool and hide. They also are often irrigation intensive so where was this when Poore was explaining his data stood there in central heated room in a cotton shit?Aral sea ffs & he's talking water use! So
that's just one way in which his data is bollocks. For the same water & land use on sheep as meat, you get wool & sheepskin, which would have meant that heating wouldn't have been needed. Now either he is as daft as a brush, or, he knows this and engaged in a deception. So...
Why wasn't such data included? Well, its because too complicated to work out. Only rough figures available re LCA which don't have reliable estimate longevity. Well let me help with that. Suit is Matita. Recently sold valued £650. Dates from early 60s. If you have, you treasure
So already 50 odd yrs old, likely only need dry cleaning maybe half a doz times.Kept wearers & future wearers warm less need for heating.A suit you could wear out in cold all day at races. Now Swansdown 1947. This jacket wool too. If immaculate couple grands worth but not far off
So that's almost 70 years old still going & again treasured by prev owners lot of wear its strong. Now mouton (sheep fur) coat- still beautifully soft & dense depth & sleek sheen. 1939. EIGHTY yrs old & STILL plenty live left despite being worn a LOT judging from minor edge wear.
Now me. Keeper tweed jacket c 1960, cavalry twill jods from 1930s both wool. Scarf silk 60s (doesn't go up in flames like synth if burned with my fag!) and leather boots from 1920s. Never need dry cleaning because it lets you breathe. Getting the picture? Contrast fast fashion
Don't listen to crap about recycled synthetics it's better but will still be produced. No wool leather sheepskin cashmere silk or real fur this lot. Even when goes to landfill it's biodegradable. Doesn't require washing as much because it doesn't trap your sweat. And you buy...
to LAST because it was MADE to last lifetime by NATURE., and SKILLED crafstmanship, not corporate exploited developing world labour designed NOT to last so you have to keep going back to well. And, do Extinction Rebellion lot get this? Do they f*** they WEAR the very problem
And when you pull them up on crap they wear, they say 'ah but hemp' as if they ever actually wear it, but at scale it would be COLOSSALLY damaging to planet. Or bamboo - its causing enough problems as it is NOW. There's NO more demonstrably sustainable clothing than animal based
And, instead narrative being controlled by those with agenda against animal use & thus they have NO solutions they are problem. 6500 years use wool. Million years fur. Fox (Sunghir archaological site) & rabbit among first trading civilizations, so extensively since c 39 000 bp.
Are fox mink rabbit etc the mainstay of fur trade, endangered? Not, they are common. Indeed 2 rabbits can produce 4 million in 4 years. On grass. And provide meat too, and rabbit felt from shearing those on farms - longest lasting trilbies. And, wild ones have to be culled in
their millions anyway to protect - CROPS! #Plantbased! MILLIONS of women UK alone had rabbit fur coats 1970s- still going most of them just some older women scared to wear them because of intimidation by lunatics. So now they are quietly burned some places, or composted. And,
while the @UNEnvironment1 tell us we may have to eat insects, RABBITS TOTALLY ignored as a resource. This is LUNACY. So rabbits every supermarket 30 yrs ago where they gone? World going bonkers. Talk about sustainability and banning going on of one of the most sustainable things.
@UNEnvironment1 Not to mention damage to the cultural & economic autonomy of indigenous peoples theguardian.com/world/2015/may… And when did this madness work its way into the left wing?
@UNEnvironment1 First there was an opportunity ,then there was a betrayal alright. Even Arthur Scargill's missus used to wear fur on picket line. All Labour ladies here Ann Scargill, Margaret Herbinson, Roy Jenkins mother, & Jennie Lee. & now they want to ban it at a time of sustainability talk
@UNEnvironment1 Same as they screamed the house down about closing the pits, and still do, and Thatcher the milk snatcher, now half of them are anti fossil fuels & anti dairy. WTF? Orwell had this type of 'socialist' sussed. Don't think he'd have been impressed with the smoking ban either
@UNEnvironment1 So. Until the eco concerned start putting animal based clothing, demonstrably sustainable for thousands of years & lessening reliance fossil fuel, and made to last & biodegradable, there is no taking any of them seriously. When they look like this then they can speak
