In a few days Oslo changed from autumn clothes to winter clothes. As I sit lookout of the windows of a new apartment, my mind can't but drift off to the last five winters here. Oslo used to be a strange city. Now it's home.
I was placed under police protection in May. Over the summer, it became clear that my current place was unsafe and that I needed to move. By August, this became not a recommendation but a demand. I have now moved.
It was a two month struggle. My passport was lost right in the middle of that. I got mostly locked out of my bank account. Meanwhile I had to work on upping my security further. It was quite a mess. Happy to emerge on the other side of it.
This may be strange to say, but as a father I'm glad that I'm no longer sleeping in the same apartment where my son sleeps. I felt that I was putting him in danger.
