Reminder that sectarianism has nothing to do with theology and very little with actual religion. Sectarianism is a form of tribalism. We can't have literal racism when everyone is mixed, so we got this. Sectarianism is our version of racism and we should analyze it as such.
Also a reminder that racism is not about literal (biological) races, because they don't exist. Racism is also more than mere bigotry. Racism is about institutional inequality and exclusion of groups of human beings based upon bullshit categories.
(Now watch some heads explode when I say that we should seek insights from critical race theory when analyzing sectarianism in the Muslim world, lol)
