Ray Cromartie is scheduled to be executed by the state of Georgia in two days. He was convicted of murder in 1994, but DNA testing was never done on the gun that killed the victim, Richard Slysz. The victim's daughter supports halting the execution.

Mr. Cromartie has always maintained his innocence. He was initially offered a plea deal of 7 years in prison. He wouldn't take it. Even now he refuses to apply for a commutation because that would involve admitting guilt. ajc.com/news/crime--la…
Mr. Cromartie's co-defendants testified for the state and were never charged with murder. They were released from prison almost two decades ago.

One of his co-defendants has since sworn an affidavit that another man (a witness against Ray) confessed to the crime.

In March 2018, a cop driving at twice the speed limit crashed into an SUV killing a baby. Police charged him AND the baby's mother with negligent homicide, because they said she hadn't strapped her baby into her car seat properly. Now he won't face charges.washingtonpost.com/nation/2019/11…
The cop's name is Christopher Manuel and he is still an officer with the Baton Rouge PD.

He is not even being charged with SPEEDING even tho he was driving 100 mph in a 50 mph zone.
The DA said they didn't initially charge him with speeding because that would have interfered with the prosecution of the negligent homicide charge. Not at all clear how.

I think so many people are convinced you have to carry ID because police do stop and ask young Black and Brown people for ID all the time and, if they don't show it, they do arrest them.

But that's illegal harassment. And the arrest charge will have nothing to do with ID.
Because there is no law on the books that requires you to carry ID. And the police are so used to doing this, they even trip up themselves - which is how they ended up tweeting this.
And why I wrote my initial thread.

It's the same way police stop and search young Black and Brown people for no reason and then arrest them and come up with a reason for the stop.

NYPD says the young man selling candy on the subway was arrested because he refused to "provide identification."

Nowhere in the US are you required to carry ID. In some states, including NY, in certain circumstances, police can ask you your name & other identifying information.
In New York, the police always have the right to ask for your name and identifying information if they are placing you under arrest.

A cop has discretion to issue a ticket or place you under arrest when they intend to charge you with a misdemeanor or an infraction/violation.
How do you know if you are under arrest? Contrary to what you see on TV, it has nothing to do with being "read your rights" or Miranda warnings.

It's a bit more complicated than this, but essentially it comes down to when the police take "custody" of you.

About an hour ago, a post said this was "straight out of the Democrat playbook."

"They are doing it to themselves," it said.
InfoWars started down this path two days ago, but that's what they do.

The idea that no one on the left is a true victim of terror attacks, that it's all an elaborate hoax by Soros, is so ingrained in the rightwing media ecosystem that it's barely notable.
An hour later, half of the top 10 rising posts on r/the_donald calls the bombs a false flag, one citing InfoWars.

An execution was scheduled for early January 2017 in Washington State. Governor Jay Inslee granted a reprieve and said he would do so in any similar situations in the future. The governor had announced a moratorium on executions in Washington back in 2014.
The new district attorney for Denver, Beth McCann, was sworn into office on January 10, 2017. District Attorney McCann pledged that her office would never seek the death penalty in any case.
