If the reporting is indeed true, that means Trump has learned absolutely nothing about his experience with James Comey and genuinely believes the optics here reflect strength.
I realize the above statement is obvious. I rarely do this - make a really obvious statement on Twitter just to drive a point home- but I genuinely feel the need to underline how patently backwards the approach is here if what you're trying to do is ALLEVIATE suspicion.
