My takeaways from today's hearing: Taylor and Kent handled questions gracefully and with profound clarity. (Please realize how difficult this feat actually is!) Their testimony corroborates the WB complaint, as well as other info shared by officials in private, making for...
a very strong case. I thought questioning from Dem counsel was deft because it also made the timeline of events around the conditioning of aid more clear than in weeks past (expected this since we moved to public setting, encouraged to see it play out accordingly).
GOP counsel, to my ear, was less effective. Which makes sense because the line of questioning often strayed from the specific events at hand/Taylor and Kent's direct experience and lingered instead on questions largely aligned with debunked Ukr theory.
As far as the energy in the room: I have covered hundreds of congressional hearings at this point. I genuinely felt today was orderly. It was one of the more orderly hearings I've ever covered, actually. That surprised me. But there are many hearings to come.
And something tells me as time wears on, patience may wear thin.

In any event, I hope you enjoyed the live-tweet session today. Back at it on Friday!
