This article is typical hot garbage that take some ax to grind, such as the nonsense that is Trump, and revises history to support the conclusion that Trump is nonsense. The history of the Berlin wall has nothing to do with Trump.
I mention this because of this typical bit, which isn't true. The Internet as we know it today started in 1983. Computers were "online" talking to each other in a myriad of ways before that, and before the event 50 years ago mentioned here.
The Internet wasn't an invention but an agreement to start communicating the same way. It wasn't until the early 1990s that most people agreed to communicate using the system that first became available in 1983.
Anyway, this is an analogy for the garbage that is the rest of the piece. Sure, Trump has a wall, and Berlin had a wall. But the Berlin wall was designed to keep people in and Trump's wall designed to keep people out. It's a fundamental difference.
It's a typical revisionist history, cherry picking the pieces of the past to help you grind an ax in the present. Trump is horrible, his wall is horrible, but frankly, it's horrible in a completely different way than the Berlin wall was horrible.
What that article describes as "bad" is actually "good". It's good that we have a diversity of countries each doing their own thing. Even while Putin is evil and his people should depose him, it's good that we outsiders don't have the power to depose Putin.
Diversity means we accept that bad actors exist, that we can't impose our values of what good actors must do on everyone. Lack of accountability in the international community is a good thing.
