Social Media for SoloPreneur
A Thread for #30DaysofThreads

Since, I started my entrepreneurship journey, I learn about app development, hiring, networking and social media and here is what I can advice on starting on social media:
1. Where are you in your journey?

Entrepreneurship is a journey that starts the moment you are thinking about optimizing that “pain-in-the-a$$” process you are dealing with or that idea that keeps bugging or simply wanting to venture in entrepreneurship. As long as, you are
Making moves towards become an entrepreneur, you are an entrepreneur to me so carry yourself as so.
But your journey unfolds in two parts ( in our current case) :
=> Pre Ideation
=> Post Ideation
2. Pre Ideation Tips

You are still working on formulating that idea. Or you are looking for ideas. But you are an entrepreneur so let your social media reflect that.
Be active on platforms like :
=> LinkedIn
=> Networking apps
=> Twitter
2.1 Why LinkedIn ?

Let your profile up to date, and follow entrepreneurs that look like you for motivation, working in the same field you wan trop venture on to secretly learn from them especially when they open up about their wins and LOSSES
2.2 Networking

Go meet people! Books are cool but they are overly simplified... Meet founders at every level. From just starting to exiting, learn from them. But also build and maintain that network.
Unfortunately, that last part is something I failed to do, so do better!
2.3 Twitter

Again follow the right people, chip in conversation, ask questions, but most importantly OPEN UP.
In my own experience, I learn that tweeting, tweeting and tweeting does work but it is greater when it is not forced, censured, or overthought, be yourself!
You don’t have to open up about everything but don’t censor yourself to fit in or please!
If you do that you won’t like it. Also creating a business shouldn’t end up being creating a prison for you ... ok?!!
Don’t measure your impact by the number followers. Your impressions are good indicators as well but the conversations you get to enjoy on each platform are better indicators.
That is quite valuable!
3. Post Ideation Tips
You have your idea and working on product. Make sure to complete branding. You need a Name, a Logo, and a tone*.
As much as you secure the domains, secure the handles on every platform. Create your social media accounts and build them one at a time.
*[ Branding - Tone ]

If you read about branding, identity is what is used. It is what defines the trends you should ride on and how your company should “talk”.

You are just starting so a tone is fine, experiment and document for
your future social media director
3.1 Identify Your Main Platforms

Listen at one point in time you would have to be on every platforms but right now what are the ones that can help you reach out to your very first customers, you need to take in count the way you can appeal to them and your product,
your budget as well. Mine is all the effort I can put in it so basically $0.

- Remark:
In my case, my potential customers are on insta, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn. I know a little bit of storytelling and I am all about sharing my experience so Twitter is my first priority.
Why Twitter might work for you as well?

Twitter offers the possibility to build your product while sharing it with the world. What do you stand for? Why people should trust you? No need to beg them for attention. Open up , be welcoming and they shall come to you.
3.2 Be active on your main platform

No need to hard sell. a non existent product. I don’t think that ever work.
I tried that and it got really boring, but also helped me experiment with brands.
But, don’t do it!

I suggest to be helpful* to the audience your want to reach.
*[ Helpful? Huh? ]
For example, If you are planning to sell a service, how can they can get to the end result right now while minimizing the risks you are trying to solve.
This is a little tricky, so experiment as much as possible.
Or remind them that even though they are dealing with those issues, your re trying to solve, they shouldn’t despair 😩. Also hear them out!
3.2 Learn from the people that are already doing great on the platform.
I recommend following @WhutTheHale for Twitter. She is awesome. You can also schedule a call with @TirzahMJ, I think she offers a service for that as well
3.3 Experiment until you get something that works and that you are comfortable with.
Want to venture on**
So that is about it. I might do some mini in-depth threads about some point I mention earlier.
But that is what I learn so far since I started my journey in 2018. Also this Twitter account is pretty new. I made it in 2019 for a fresh start and I am doing really good!
