But thanks to your searches, we are regenerating the land by digging swales to catch rainwater and infiltrate the soil. This means we can plant trees here, in one of the driest places on earth.
Rocky dams also slow down rainwater and prevent it from running off. The water deposits nutrients into the earth and enables vegetation to grow.
We plant moringa trees and diverse nitrogen fixer plants. Improved soil quality and water retention means they have a chance of survival here, in one of the driest places on earth.
