Further to last week's thread, here's a quick (still nerdy) #thread about next steps in #SCOTUS for @realDonaldTrump's emergency application for a stay of the House subpoena to Mazars.

To make a long story short, there will likely be news today, but it _won't_ be significant...
In brief, on Friday, Trump asked Chief Justice Roberts to put on hold the D.C. Circuit ruling upholding the House's subpoena while he asks #SCOTUS to take up the entire case. Without any intervention, that ruling goes into effect at the end of the day _this_ Wednesday, Nov. 20.
But Trump also asked the Chief Justice for an "administrative" stay. In essence, that's a request for a short-term freeze of the lower-court ruling to allow the Court more time to decide whether to freeze the lower-court ruling for the (longer) duration of #SCOTUS's review.
And the Chief Justice has not yet asked the House to respond, which would make it very difficult for #SCOTUS to resolve the full stay application before the D.C. Circuit's ruling goes into force on Wednesday. That's why I expect news today, but it won't be especially revealing.
In particular, I expect that the Chief Justice will (1) ask for the House to (quickly) file a response to the stay application; and (2) issue an administrative stay for long enough to allow the full Court to consider Trump's stay application.

Neither of these steps are unusual.
And as importantly, neither step would tell us _anything_ about how the full Court is likely to rule _either_ on the application to freeze the D.C. Circuit's ruling pending Trump's appeal, or, even if the Court grants that application, on the actual _merits_ of that appeal.
