One of my talks is about being an open-minded Jewish ‘settler’ and my interactions with and support of Palestinians. A crowd-pleaser that truly crosses social lines. One synagogue wouldn’t let me speak because they heard the word ‘settler’ 🤷🏼♀️
The US has reversed a longstanding policy saying that settlements do NOT violate international law. People saying this will doom peace efforts. I say that’s BS. nytimes.com/2019/11/18/wor…
Peace efforts have failed miserably until now. In fact one thing Oslo accomplished is separating the Israeli and Palestinian people more than ever and generate animosity and renewed terror. Perhaps injecting a bit of realism is just the thing.
One important thing that this policy change may accomplish is putting focus where it belongs: on the people. Saying ‘the settlements are an obstacle to peace’ is a bogus excuse & maybe now we can roll our sleeves up & get some actual work done. #peaceispossible
P.S. If you truly support peace it helps if you don’t demonize #Palestinians OR #settlers. Think about it: WE are both the ones closest to the conflict. Don’t you think we want a solution?? #Israel #peace
