"Voting privilege and 'less-popular' parties" - A Thread on #politics

If 'less popular' parties such as Lib Dem, Plaid, Green are super serious about winning election seats, why are they not constantly campaigning collaboratively for change to the UK voting system?
At the moment in some areas they are literally just encouraging people to waste their vote. Cardiff North is a good example as there is no chance of Plaid / Lib Dem winning under the current system, but they are still standing candidates there.
Doing this, and campaigning for people to vote for them, says to me that: "We don't actually care about implementing our policies, we just care about getting one more vote, regardless of who we might take that vote away from", and the impact of that on the Government.
As a voter, voting for one of these parties whilst knowing they will not win that seat is not a vote against the Government, a protest vote, or a way of saying "I support this party", it is an expression of privilege that you will probably be fine whatever happens.
There are many people all around the UK that cannot afford that privilege, who will not "probably be fine", and who are really struggling day to day for various reasons.
If you want to support a party that cannot win in your area, send them an email / letter of support instead of voting for them. Tell them that unless the voting system is changed, you cannot waste your vote for them. Encourage them to change the system.
If you don't identify with one of the main parties, vote for the one that will help other people and could actually win the seat. This is bigger than us as individuals - those of us who can afford the privilege of making a choice should use it as a force for good.
p.s. The same applies for spoiling your ballet. Unregistered? Get that sorted here: gov.uk/register-to-vo…
