I live in the same city where the Quran was burnt on Saturday last week in #Norway. Those who burnt the Quran were hardly 5 people. Norwegian community in Kristiansand came out in large numbers in a show of solidarity with Muslims.

Police were present at the demonstration site and tried to stop the burning of the Quran even though there’s no law in Norway that restricts burning Quran, bible or any books. A brawl broke out between a demonstrator and leader of very little-known org

”Stopp Islamiseringen av Norge”(Stop Islamising Norway ). It was in violation of Norwegian laws and the police quickly subdued it. People of Kristiansand including its Mayor Harald Furre strongly condemned this act.

As said, there are no such laws that stop burning any holy books in #Norway but despite that Police still prohibited its burning. The leader of the least known party that organized this show is being questioned by the police though he has democratic rights to protest.

#ilyas_Hero_of_Muslim_Ummah who is being hailed as a hero has been arrested for disturbing the peace. A large number of Christians today gathered in front of masque in Kristiansand to show that Norway stands by the Muslims.

However, Pakistani born Muslim MP in the Norwegian parliament remain silent. Also, most of the Muslims in Norway have taken a Trappist vow of silence.

The leader of Muslim Council Agder, Akmal Ali told me they respect the Norwegian laws saying that those who disrespected the Quran are least respected by the Norwegians.

The Muslim leader is happy with the response he has received from the Norwegian community saying largely the Norwegians are with us and “they are our brothers and sisters. Pakistan should better think of #Uighur Muslims who are subjected to detention by its close ally #China.

In fact, that, was the police that defended the Quran. #ilyas_Hero_of_Muslim_Ummah has violated the Norwegian laws by attempting to thrash a police Officer&breaking barricades. The leader of the fright-wing party also says police had prohibited its burning. ##Defender_of_Quran

Though the members of the small Muslim community are frustrated, some of them are angry but they say they’ve received an outpouring support too. They’re thankful to Norwegian people, police and Norway’s commitment to keep minorities safe. End

As discussed before, there r no such laws that stop desecration of Koran or any other religious book in #Norway, this is how police had responded. He might be charged with hate speech however. Look at this video by @NRKno
