1/ Adding details from #NSO Group request for injunction against #Facebook

2/ The gist of it: Facebook breached their TOS as it allows blocking only in cases the blocked user actually violated the TOS and requires informing the blocked user
3/ some of the plaintiffs were blocked from both #Facebook and #instagram, while others were only blocked from FB
4/ The blocked accounts on FB were just inaccessible, the blocked Instagram accounts said "blocked for violating ToS". When query sent to FB via email the response was "This account has been disabled relating to litigation with NSO group"
5/ Former employees blocked by FB had to supply proof they no longer work for NSO / work for other employers to regain access to their account

Above article was written in 2017. Blackstone made a deal to buy NSO Group but was dropped after heavy protests. So backed by Novalpina Capital stakes were bought back by NSO Group in Feb 2019. The #Aadhaar contract and the spying happened when Francisco Partners owned NSO Group.

3. but not really right either. Facebook's ginger embrace of European style legislation is making lemonade out of lemons. Zuckerberg would surely have preferred a world with no privacy legislation, where companies were left to self regulate, and market mechanisms predominated.
