I thought this was a pretty interesting op-ed, particularly this simple advice:

"Talk about health care, education and jobs."

I think that's pretty sound! Too often the lens for all analysis of the Dem primary and messaging is ideological: left vs center, Medicare for All vs Public Option, etc..

But even more important than a politicans specific positions are *what they emphasize.*
You can focus on and emphasize health care, education and jobs in a centrist way or a left/liberal way, but the emphasis really does matter. I think that's part of what's so smart/essential about the Green New Deal as a messaging and framing device. It centers jobs and investment

There are structural reasons that I don't think it will happen, (mostly having to do with the nature of the Democratic coalition) but I find myself thinking more and more about what lefist Trump would look like in America.
Using the DOJ as a political instrument, along with investigations and regulation to attack enemies/ villains. Simply ignoring congressional appropriations, unilaterally doling out money to favored groups (ala the direct agribusiness welfare), ignoring Fed independence.
This all feels like a "learned it from watching you dad" moment.

No one gets the “argue the law/argue the facts saying” and it’s driving me crazy.
For the record “When the facts are with you, bang on the facts, when the law is with you, bang on the law and if neither the facts nor the law is with you: bang on the table.”

Please stop screwing this up!
It’s the use of “bang” that makes the whole thing work! You can also use “pound”, but no one does it right!

Related to the point here is that right now there are not enough votes *in the House* for M4A, even if Warren/Sanders won the presidency and Dems managed to take the Senate.

I think it's really important for candidates to lay out their visions and goals and plans and not just pre-emptively concede to "political reality," which is dynamic and malleable. But also, there's a certain "angles dancing on the head of a pin" quality to the M4A details debate
Though that said, a presidential candidate running on M4A and getting elected while doing so would significantly alter the realm of the political possible. But there is still a long distance between here and there.
