New migration statistics just dropped, in the middle of an election campaign. They are unlikely to attract much attention, which shows how dramatically the politics of this issue has changed in the past few years

A few highlights:
Net migration is at a 5 yr low, but at 212,000 is still massively above the idiotic "tens of thousands" target Cons have now sensibly dropped
Big part of the drop is due to rising emigration which is now at its highest in at least a decade

EU net migration continues to fall - migration from A8 countries is now net negative, offset by modest net inflows from EU15 and A2.
Net migration from outside the EU has, however, risen to an all time high. This is the bit govt already can control.

There's no evidence of a substantial "Brexodus" - emigration of EU citizens is flat over the past few years, and up modestly on pre-EU referendum levels.
However, new migration from all EU countries is falling steadily - Brexit probably part of this but other things probably a factor too (rising EU incomes and employment, falling £ etc)
