Readers who know John Le Carre’s books “The Spy Who Came in from the Cold” and “Tinker, Tailor,Soldier, Spy” will understand Spygate. What happened in 2015/6 is lifted directly from the plots of these masterpieces. (1) 
In “Tinker Tailor” an intelligence organisation (MI6) wittingly relies on a source that is fake. The source is called “Merlin.” Spygate’s “Merlin” was Halper. His info is verified by their other source, Steele whom Halper was feeding. (2)
The agency is so desperate for “gold dust” intelligence that they gobble up all the false information. They pay a fortune for this fake information and disseminate it to the highest levels. (3)
In Spygate “Merlin”(Halper) is introduced as the source by Brennan. Merlin is the “collector” of intelligence that no-one else can get. His “contacts” are "at the highest level of the Kremlin". He knows all the key players. He becomes omnipresent. (4)
“Merlin” (Halper) becomes source, collector and investigator. He entraps the suspects. But the key is secrecy. Only a small group can know the truth about “Merlin”. But "Merlin" (Halper) fabricates everything.

Halper is an unfit 74 year old “academic”. He cannot walk up a flight of stairs. He is not a trained investigator or counter intelligence specialist. But he bests the entire might of Russia’s intelligence service from his desk in Cambridge University. (6)
Halper fabricates the tale of how all-American hero Gen Flynn becomes Putin’s puppet. Flynn is the agencies' nemesis, what Halper is reporting about Flynn just has to be true. Crucial to this "treasonous path" is a false story of a love affair between Flynn and a Russian spy (7)
The fake love affair channels the novel "The Spy Who Came In From The Cold". The author was a British spy, so he knows a thing or two. Halper used the disinformation handbook 101 to smear Gen Flynn. It's always sex, money or both. (8)
So if @GenFlynn had a Russian spy-lover and Putin’s puppet, where is the investigation? If true, this would have been the biggest security breach in US history. Where are the headlines? Why did Flynn keep his security clearance? How could he become National Security Advisor? (9)
Despite their vast resources and the alleged serious threat, the agencies' only weapon against the fiendish, audacious Russian plot risking national security is Halper. He is their only investigator. That’s right they hire the source to investigate the crime he has invented!/10
The Agencies clearly don't believe one word of Halper’s "intelligence". But, it gives the plotters what they want: a chance to spy on their nemesis and a Presidential campaign. They could not leave it to chance that Trump might win, so it's their “insurance policy”. (11)
The unthinkable happens: Trump triumphs! The rag tag "insurance policy", based on spy novels, now has to be dressed up as a serious investigation. Enter the press. One feature of Spygate is that it is the least secret investigation EVER. (12)
'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy', a spy novel, has a good ending: George Smiley, a veteran intelligence officer, exposes the entire plot. He proceeds to clean out the stables. Spygate is real life. Will AG Barr emerge as the hero? [END]
