Over the last 2 years they have met with dozens of meetings with local government leaders, campaigners & communities. School leaders calling for support in moving away from car-chaos at school gates, public health groups calling for help fighting the inactivity crisis.
Groups incl. @WeAreCyclingUK, @Chris_Boardman, @20splentyforus, @livingstreets, @Wheels4Well have taken the time to spell out what good policy is & what's required from central government. Internally - Treasury, Health & Environment teams have all supported these plans.
And @LabourTransport have listened. The headline announcements are part of a larger plan. Active travel & public transport are at the centre of Labour's plans for 1 million new homes. Labour has also made a string of critical announcements today about buses & trains.
These🚶♀️🛴🚲 announcements are historic, planned in detail & will be delivered because Labour and indeed the UK cannot meets it goals for communities, public health, the environment or the economy without being as progressive on the short journeys as it is on the long ones.
So when it comes to voting on the 12th December. You have a choice between having @AndyMcDonaldMP running the Department of Transport and a commitment to improve living & moving in our communities OR yet another £30bn spent on roads.
