They hear about the technology years in advance and are practically the first ones to sign up for information about advancements and future trials. The tech to transfer minds is projected to be completed well within Hank’s lifetime, so they think they have time
They start making plans regarding the future when they’re both androids; moving Hank’s assets into Connor’s name to make the transition easier legally, planning trips, talking endlessly not just about the next handful of decades, but even into the next century
Hank’s never been excited to /live/ before, but with Connor by his side, he wants to see the future with him. He wants things out of life he never wanted before.

And Connor doesn’t even have a copy of Hank’s consciousness. No backup to be uploaded into a new unit years down the road. Everything that Hank ever was is gone forever.
